Most human cells (somatic cells) are diploid, as indicated by the observation that they carry two copie of each of the 23 chromosomes.
On the hand, germ cells (sperm and eggs cells, or gametes) are haploid, meaning that they contain a single copy of each of the 23 chromosomes.
